Three races, three different winners
Croft delivered a breathless round of the 2026 Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship, with Josh Cook, Ash Sutton and Mikey Doble each taking a win apiece across three incident-packed races in North Yorkshire. Championship leader Sutton, reigning champion Tom Ingram and title rival Dan Cammish all had at least one setback across the weekend — but none of Sutton's rivals could turn those setbacks into real gains.
Sutton edges into the record books
Sutton's win in race two was the 55th of his BTCC career, moving him above Gordon Shedden and into fifth on the series' all-time wins list — with only Jason Plato, Colin Turkington, Matt Neal and Andy Rouse now ahead of him. It also extended his championship lead: Cammish now trails by 115 points, with Ingram a further eight adrift, as Sutton closes in on a record fifth BTCC Drivers' title.
How each race unfolded
Race one was heavily rain-affected, and Cook's Speedworks Toyota Corolla controlled it from a perfect wet-tyre launch. Ingram looked to have the pace to win outright and even passed Cook on the road late on, but a five-second track-limits penalty picked up earlier meant the reigning champion was classified third behind Cook and Sutton regardless.
Race two was Sutton's, and it wasn't close once he was through: a stunning opening-lap move around the outside of pole-sitter Cook at Tower gave him the lead, and he controlled it from there. Behind him, Ingram's race ended in the barrier after contact with Cammish — who continued on to salvage fourth despite a difficult start.
Race three, run on the reverse grid, went to Doble from pole — his third career BTCC win. A first-corner incident between Cammish and Ricky Collard triggered a safety car and collected several other contenders, including Sutton, but Doble was untroubled at the front once racing resumed, with Tom Chilton and Gordon Shedden completing the podium.
